Our South Central Regional positions offer great pay and great miles with lots of drop & hook freight, so you spend more time on the road earning and less time waiting at shippers. Our drivers can earn some of the highest take-home pay in the business. And, to help keep your pay more consistent, we'll pay the portion of miles you've run right up to the payroll cut off time. Our company drivers earn base rate increases based on tenure AND every 50,000 miles with no cap once they reach a $0.55 CPM base!
Home weekly - It is our goal for every driver residing within 50 miles of Memphis, Houston, or Dallas to get at least a 34 hour restart. All other areas are out 12 days, home 3 days.
Solos start up to $0.64 CPM, $0.60 base + $0.04 CPM safety/service bonus. No gimmicks!

How hard is it to get a local drop and hook job fresh after getting a CDL (no experience)? It's extremely hard. Most local companies prefer that their drivers have at least 6 months of over the road experience, and the reason being is because the insurance would be much cheaper if they hire a local experienced driver.
With a fleet of more than 1,100 tractors and 3,200 trailers, PTL is well-equipped to offer coverage and capacity throughout a significant portion of the lower 48 states.
In order to preserve local ownership of PTL within the community of Murray, KY and further strengthen its future, 100% of PTL's stock was transferred to its employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
The biggest fleet in the U.S. belongs to PepsiCo, Inc. It owns 11,079 tractors, 16,138 trucks, and 6,682 pickup trucks and cargo vans. PepsiCo also owns 20,105 trailers for securing goods in transit. This enormous fleet helps PepsiCo take in $79.5 billion per year in sales.
PTL has roots in Murray dating back to its opening in 1937, originally operating as a less-than-truckload carrier with a single truck. The company has since grown into a national truckload carrier with more than 1,100 tractors, 3,200 trailers and over $260 million in annual revenue.
This may lead you to wonder “Do local truck drivers make good money?” Although local truck drivers may not drive the same number of miles that OTR drivers cover, they can still earn a great living. As of May 2024, local company drivers at Schneider currently earn between $1,160 - $1,420 a week.
However, keep in mind that local drivers may not earn as much money as OTR or regional drivers, as they typically cover fewer miles. Local drivers may also have to deal with traffic and other obstacles that can make driving in urban areas stressful and time-consuming.
Local truck drivers typically go home daily. Sometimes they might be away from home one night per week, but it's not common. Local drivers may travel back and forth from one city all day, while others may follow a different route each day. It depends largely on the type of product they're hauling.
